Für viele ist es DAS Album. 1999 zur Jahrtausendwende erschienen, markiert "Cosmogenesis" die mit "Stars Fall Down" und "Zephyre" begonnene Stilfindung von THE HOUSE OF USHER und trotz veränderten Lineups knüpft das Album klanglich an seine Vorgänger an.
Für die Band war es quasi die erfolgreichste Zeit: zweitausend verkaufte Alben, Auftritte auf Festivals unter anderem im Libanon, beim Carnival Of Souls in Nottingham und beim Wave Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig, bemerkenswerte Beachtung in der Presse; sogar die BILD-Zeitung stellte fest, dass Gothic-Rock von THE HOUSE OF USHER „in“ sei.

Großartiger als mit „Nemesis“ kann ein Album auch kaum beginnen, man möchte fast sagen „durchstarten“, denn am Anfang des wuchtigen Stückes steht ein Countdown, der die Gitarren anzählt. Neben weniger oder nie live gespielten Stücken wie „Back From The Crowds“ und „For One Moment“ enthält das Album zahlreiche Klassiker, die über viele Jahre hinweg zum Bühnenrepertoire der Band gehören, allen voran „No God On Earth“, aber auch „Équinoxe“, „To Sow A Storm“ und „Lizard Skin“. Nach „Graceland“ - mein Gott, was für ein Stück! Die Eroberung des Westens in 16 epischen Minuten! – folgt mit „Clouds Without Water“ ein kraftvoller Ausklang.
Auf einem alten Weingut an der Mosel eingespielt, bleibt „Cosmogenesis“ ein Meilenstein in der Entwicklung der Band.

THE HOUSE OF USHER: Cosmogenesis
For many fans it is THE album. Released 1999 at the end of the millennium, "Cosmogenesis" shows THE HOUSE OF USHER finding their own style in gothic rock. Sustaining what they had started with "Stars Fall Down" and "Zephyre" the album is - irrespective the line up changes - still tying to their early recordings.
With 2.000 sold copies, shows at festivals in Libanon, at Carnival Of Souls/Nottingham and at Wave Gotik-Treffen/Leipzig, it was the most successful work of the band.
You can't start an album greater than T.H.O.U. does with „Nemesis“ and it's countdown before a wall of guitars start playing. Beside songs rarely or never played live as „Back From The Crowds“ or „For One Moment“, the album contains a lot of classics like „No God On Earth“, „Équinoxe“, „To Sow A Storm“ and „Lizard Skin“. After „Graceland“ - my God, what kind of a song! The conquest of the west within 16 epic Minutes! – it ends with a powerful reprise: „Clouds Without Water“.
Recorded on an ancient vineyard at the river Mosel, „Cosmogenesis“ remains a milestone in the evolution of the band.
