amazing new material, needed some time to get through it, but the band has really grownth as ever they do when they release new material! keeeeeeeep it burning guyssss!!!
---------------------------------------
After thirty years of uninterrupted creative work, THE HOUSE OF USHER are like a good old port wine that unfolds its full maturity on the eleventh album "Holyghost" and shows the band in a consistent further development.
The fourteen songs in total, which cannot deny their origins in the Wave of the 1980s, seem to be more complex and personal than the songs on their much-praised predecessor "Roaring Silence (at the end of the world)". It is noticeable that they take more time to let feelings arise and act out. In whatever mood you approach the album ... it welcomes you with open arms and gives you the feeling of having arrived.
The main focus is on aging and loss, without "Holyghost" calling for resignation. Because THE HOUSE OF USHER have a comforting message: What defines a person, their memories, insights and attitudes cannot be taken from them.
The band convinces once again with catchy melodies and beautiful guitars that are rarely heard today. The current line-up with singer Jörg Kleudgen, guitarists Markus Pick and Georg Berger, as well as Ralf Dunkel on bass and Gerwin Spalink on drums are reinforced by guest musicians such as Barry Galvin (ex-CHRISTIAN DEATH, MEPHISTO WALZ), Tom O'Connell (ex- GARDEN OF DELIGHT, ALL HALLOWS EVE), Ingo Klemens (THE ESCAPE), Boris Brosowski (CREAM VIII), Oliver Pietsch (VIOLET), Keule (REPTYLE) and Dominic Daub (QEK JUNIOR).

I've enjoyed The Wake since the 90s. The new album feels like a trip to right where they left off! Goth Rock at it's best! I can't wait to see where they go from here!! aklosowski22
First full lenght album by the band, preceded by the two excellent EP's 'Fault Line' and 'Reflections'. In line with their now characteristic sound and influences, October Burns Black deliver a great collection of tracks whose spell is impossible to resist.
Classy and classic gothic rock at it's best. Dionysos Nyktelios
“Strangers” is packed with wonderfully menacing electro-goth—late-night horror movie music for vampire dance parties. Bandcamp New & Notable May 8, 2023

Perfectly gloomy Norwegian goth/post-punk, anchored by a punchy rhythm section and driven by chiming guitar lines and morose vocals. Bandcamp New & Notable Feb 16, 2021
